MIZKAN MUSEUM Admission Policies and Guidelines

MIZKAN MUSEUM (hereinafter referred to as “the Museum”) has established the following policies and guidelines for its use.
Visitors who fail to comply with these policies and guidelines may be denied entry or required to leave the premises, irrespective of whether an admission fee has been paid.

  • 1. Visitors are required to pay the designated admission fee to access the paid exhibition areas of the Museum (Room of Earth, Gallery of the Wind, Room of Time, Water Theater, and The Park of Light).
  • 2. Visitors using the free areas of the Museum (MIM Shop and MIM Hall) are also required to comply with these policies and guidelines and to follow the instructions of the staff.
  • 3. Reservations for the paid exhibition areas must be made in advance through the Museum's website.
  • 4. On the day of the visit, if there are available slots for tours, reservations can be made at the reception desk.
  • 5. Both the Full Museum Tour and Mini Museum Tour have a maximum capacity of 30 people, with infants, regardless of age, counted as one person.
  • 6. Except for school tours, reservations are only accepted from individuals. Reservations from travel companies, including for school tours, will not be accepted.
  • 7. If it is determined that the reservation or visit has been made by a travel company, travel agency, or individual/group using the facility for commercial purposes, they will be asked to leave. In such cases, the admission fee will not be refunded.
  • 8. Group admission fees must be paid collectively in a single transaction. Only one receipt will be issued per transaction.
  • 9. If the number of visitors changes from the reservation without prior notice, the admission fee for the number of people registered in the reservation will be charged.
  • 10. Opening hours are from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. The last admission to the paid exhibition areas is one hour after the reserved time. If visitors fail to arrive within this one-hour period without notice, the reservation will be canceled.
  • 11. The maximum duration of stay in the paid exhibition areas is two hours from the reserved time.
  • 12. For safety reasons, visitors who are intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol may be denied entry or required to leave.
  • 13. For the Full Museum Tour, if the arrival is more than 20 minutes late, participation in the guided tour may not be possible. Even if the guided tour is missed, the admission fee for the Full Museum Tour will be charged.
  • 14. After admission, the admission fee will not be refunded. Even within the maximum duration of stay, visitors will not be allowed to re-enter the paid exhibition areas after returning the admission pass.
  • 15. The Museum may be temporarily closed at the discretion of the Director due to storms, typhoons, heavy snowfall, natural disasters, or other unforeseen emergencies.
  • 16. The explanations of the exhibits by the staff may not be conducted as requested by visitors due to congestion in the Museum or staff availability.
  • 17. During guided tours, if the staff determines that a visitor is obstructing other visitors or hindering the operation of the tour, the visitor may be required to leave the tour.
  • 18. The use of the parking lot is limited to the duration of stay at the Museum. Visitors may be asked to vacate the parking lot if this time is exceeded.
  • 19. The following items are not allowed in the Museum:
    Item Details
    Photography and videography equipment Large cameras, except those used by media crews authorized by the Museum.
    Photography and videography accessories Monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, and other accessories larger than a single-hand grip.
    Remote control devices Drones, etc.
    Public address equipment Devices such as hands-free loudspeakers and megaphones that amplify external sounds.
    Recreational equipment Skateboards, roller skates, etc.
    Pets Including insects, but excluding service animals such as guide dogs and hearing dogs.
    Large bags Suitcases, backpacks, etc. with a capacity of over 80 liters.
    Strollers Permitted only with staff approval in unavoidable circumstances.
    Mobility aids Electric wheelchairs are not allowed (manual wheelchairs are available).
    Walkers, rollators, and mobility carts (including those with carriers) are permitted.
    Food and beverages Beverages in lidded bottles and plastic bottles are allowed. Food is allowed if stored in bags.
    Dangerous items Items that could be used as weapons, such as knives and sharp objects.
    Chemical substances Explosives, radioactive materials, compressed gases, corrosive, flammable or toxic chemicals, and volatile liquids and solvents such as thinner.
    Waste Waste from outside the facility, waste and unwanted items from home, and items emitting foul odors.
  • 20. The following actions are prohibited:
    Item Details
    Crossing exhibition barriers Entry into areas within rope partitions is prohibited.
    Touching exhibits and displays Prohibited except for certain parts of the Room of Earth.
    Photography and videography in prohibited zones Photography and videography are prohibited in the Water Theater.
    Recording guided tours Audio and video recording of explanations and guides in the Room of Earth and Room of Time are prohibited.
    Flash photography  
    Photography and videography of staff and visitors Unauthorized photography and videography of staff and visitors is prohibited.
    Posting photos/videos of staff and visitors on social media Prohibited unless authorized by the Museum.
    Smoking outside the designated area Smoking is prohibited throughout the premises except in the designated smoking area.This includes electronic cigarettes and water pipes.
    Using rental wheelchairs outside designated times/areas Rental wheelchairs may only be used within the Museum's premises and the duration of stay.
    Entering the Museum while intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol Visitors exhibiting signs of being intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol, or behavior that disturbs others, as determined by the Museum, will not be allowed entry.
    Eating and drinking within the premises Eating and drinking are prohibited, except for beverages in lidded bottles, water and tea in plastic bottles, and those provided at the Museum's drink corner.
    Gatherings, speeches and commercial activities Prohibited without the Museum's permission.
    Others Actions that violate laws or are deemed inappropriate by the Museum.
