MIM (MIZKAN MUSEUM) is
an interactive museum
where visitors can enjoy learning
about the appeal of culinary culture.
In Handa, where Mizkan was founded,
MIZKAN MUSEUM (a.k.a. MIM) was born as a facility
to experience the past of the Mizkan Group,
feel the present, and to continue on into the future.
MIM, along with its ancient black-wall scenery along the canal,
is a facility that values tradition, innovation and the environment
while passing down to future generations the history of Mizkan's vinegar production,
brewing techniques, commitment to monozukuri craftsmanship, and the appeal of culinary culture.
Look, touch, enjoy, and learn.
We aim to be an interactive museum that visitors will want to visit again and again.
Greetings from the Director
MIM's mission is to increase the number of Mizkan fans and to serve as a tourist destination and a learning and educational facility
The history of the Mizkan Group begins in 1804 (Bunka 1) during the Edo period, when Matazaemon Nakano the first, a sake brewer, succeeded in making vinegar from sake lees. The Mizkan Museum is a facility where visitors can enjoy the history of Mizkan spanning over 200 years and experience the culinary culture of sushi and nabe (hot pot).
We hope to be an asset to local tourism as well as to provide learning opportunities for children, our future leaders—and to this end, will strive to continuously improve and innovate the museum.
