Visiting and making reservations

What are your opening hours and closed days?

Opening hours are from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The museum is closed every Thursday (also closed on public holidays) and during the Year-End/New Year holidays.
Please note that we may close for safety reasons in anticipation of bad weather or in the event of a disaster.

Is there parking?

Yes.


We have space for approximately 40 vehicles in Parking Lot No. 1 and approximately 50 vehicles in Parking Lot No. 2.
Three buses can be parked in a separate bus parking lot.

Will I need a reservation?

Advance online reservations are required.

If there are available slots on the day of your visit, you may complete the admission procedure at the reception. However, we recommend making reservations in advance for visits on Saturdays, Sundays, and during spring and summer vacations, etc.

When can I make a reservation?

We accept reservations online from 9:30 am one month in advance.

How many people can go on a tour?

The tour capacity is 30 people for the Full Museum Tour, and 15 people for the Mini Museum Tour.

If your group is larger than the tour capacity, please divide it into smaller groups and reserve a separate tour for each smaller group.

Do infants/toddlers count as a tour member in terms of tour capacity?

Yes.


Children aged zero and above are counted as one tour member.

Can I change my reservation?

Reservations can also be changed online.


After the reservation is completed, you will receive a “Thank you for your reservation at [Mizkan Museum]” email.
Please use the cancellation URL provided in this email to complete the cancellation procedure, and then make another online reservation.
If you do not receive the email, please contact us by phone.

Can I visit only the shop?

Yes, it is possible to visit only the shop.


Entry to the shop is free of charge also for those without tour reservations.

How do I make a reservation?

We accept reservations online.
If you are:

  • a travel agent
  • a wheelchair user (person with difficulty walking)
  • a person requiring assistance (such as a visually impaired person)
  • an after-school day service, a day care facility such as a welfare workplace, or an elderly care facility
please call to make your reservation.

Tour details

What kind of tours do you have?

[Full Museum Tour] Maximum duration of stay: 120 minutes

A tour covering all zones of the museum (Room of Earth, Gallery of the Wind, Room of Time, Water Theater, and The Park of Light). The Room of Time and Water Theater will be a guided tour that begins 30 minutes after the reservation time.

[Mini Museum Tour] Maximum duration of stay: 120 minutes

A tour for only the Room of Earth and The Park of Light, where visitors can casually enjoy the two zones. You can also customize your own bottle of Ajipon.

Will there be a guide?

For the Full Museum Tour only, The Room of Time and Water Theater will be a guided tour that begins 30 minutes after the reservation time (guidance duration: 50 minutes).

Is the museum barrier-free?

Yes, this museum is a barrier-free facility.

The building has different levels with stairs, but there are elevators available.

Do you have information in other languages?

The “Room of Earth” zone has information pamphlets in English, Korean, and Chinese.

In the Full Museum Tour, the guidance in the Room of Time and Water Theater is in Japanese only.

What do you mean by customizing my own Ajipon?

If you purchase a bottle of Ajipon (200 yen per bottle) from the vending machine in the studio, scan the QR code on the Ajipon bottle with a QR code reader, and take a photo, you can create an Ajipon label with your face on it. Stick it on the bottle to create your own customized Ajipon bottle! (Please note that no receipt will be issued.)

Facility use

Do you have a nursing room?

Yes. It is located at the entrance.

Do you rent out wheelchairs and strollers?

We offer wheelchairs for rental (for use inside the museum only).

If you wish to rent one, please ask at the reception desk.
Please note that we have only a limited number of wheelchairs and rental may not always be possible.
We do not offer strollers for rental.
Also, please also refrain from using strollers inside the museum.
Please prepare a baby carrier or other means as necessary.

Can I take pictures inside the museum?

Visitors may take photos anywhere in the museum except in the Water Theater.

Please refrain from taking photos in a manner that may disturb other visitors, such as using flash photography or selfie sticks.
Also, except in the Room of Earth and The Park of Light, please refrain from recording video or audio.

Do you have a smoking room?

There is a smoking room at the entrance

(*Smoking is prohibited in the tour area).

Are pets allowed?

We do not allow pets to enter the museum.

Entering with a guide dog is permitted.

Can I eat and drink inside the museum?

"As a general rule, we do not allow food and drinks to be brought into the museum. However, we do permit water and tea in plastic bottles or water bottles (please drink it while sitting on a chair or bench).
We do not have restaurants or other eateries."

Can you look after my luggage?

Free lockers are available next to the reception.
